Samia Alibhai

Deputy Head - Primary & Secondary

Hello! I’m Samia Alibhai, and I’m thrilled to be joining Maple Bloom as Deputy Head and Primary Classroom Teacher.

If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s this: I believe learning should be joyful, meaningful, and just a little bit magical - complete with a dash of glitter, a touch of well organised chaos, and the occasional coffee fuelled brainstorm.

I was born in East Africa and spent the first 15 years of my life in the coastal city of Mombasa, which I still fondly call home. That early experience sparked a lasting appreciation for culture, community, and connection. Being back in this part of the world feels like life has come full circle, just with more lesson plans and slightly fewer beach days!

I completed my BA (Hons) in Geography and a Postgraduate Degree in Psychology in the UK, before earning my teaching qualification through the School Direct programme in partnership with the University of Reading.

Before becoming a teacher, I worked as an Assistant Child Psychologist, supporting children with emotional and behavioural needs. This role taught me the value of empathy, patience, and active listening. These are skills that remain at the heart of how I teach and lead today.

Since then, I’ve taught across multiple key stages in British and American curriculum schools and supported educators through mentoring and training in the United States. I believe the best classrooms feel like well-planned adventures and should be structured, curious, and full of heart.

At Maple Bloom, I’m excited to create learning spaces that are warm, engaging, and full of possibility. I want every child to feel seen, supported, and inspired to thrive. I’m equally devoted to empowering our team of educators, because great teachers don’t just teach; they keep learning too.

I can’t wait to begin this new adventure with the Maple Bloom community. Let’s grow something beautiful together 🙂
