Happyness Kimaro

Teaching Assistant - Year 2

I am an enthusiastic and dedicated educator with over five years of classroom experience, specializing in early primary education and language instruction. My teaching journey has equipped me with the ability to support students in both English and Kiswahili, fostering strong literacy skills and a love for reading in young learners.

One of the highlights of my career was working as a Grade 4 and Grade 2 class teacher and English teacher at Al Muntazir Islamic International School. There, I developed and delivered comprehensive English lessons that emphasized reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. I also integrated creative writing and critical thinking into my instruction, while using a variety of teaching strategies to support diverse learning styles. I worked closely with students to build confidence in their language skills and fostered a classroom culture rooted in respect, active participation, and mutual support.

Before that, I served as a Kiswahili teacher for Grade 2 pupils, where I designed interactive and inclusive lessons to help all students enjoy the subject and improve their skills. I also created engaging activities to promote a love of reading Kiswahili storybooks.

I began my teaching journey at Feza Primary School, where I worked both as an assistant and lead class teacher. These early experiences helped me develop strong classroom management skills, design effective lesson plans, and build meaningful connections with my students.

In addition to classroom experience, I have participated in various professional development trainings, including differentiated instruction, curriculum design, and classroom management. I also completed the IELTS exam, which strengthened my academic English and gave me a deeper understanding of international language standards.

True to my name, I believe in bringing happiness into the classroom every day. I love to smile, and I use that positivity to create a warm and welcoming learning environment where students feel valued, motivated, and encouraged to do their best. I’m passionate about nurturing not only academic growth but also confidence, kindness, and curiosity in every learner.

For me, teaching is more than a profession — it's a calling to inspire, uplift, and empower the next generation through patience, creativity, and joy.
