Daire Louise O'Dowd

Homeroom Teacher - Year 8

I’m Daire  an educator from Ireland with a deep passion for creating engaging learning experiences that empower students to take charge of their own journey.

Over the past several years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching and living in London, the UAE, Vietnam, and Kenya, working across a range of international curricula. Each experience has reinforced my belief that education is most powerful when it is active, inclusive, and globally minded.

I love designing classrooms where students are encouraged to question, collaborate, and explore—not just absorb information. Active learning helps them develop critical thinking, creativity, and confidence, skills they’ll carry far beyond the classroom.

One of my biggest inspirations is the German educator Kurt Hahn, who championed holistic and experiential education. His belief that bringing students from diverse backgrounds together fosters global cooperation continues to guide my approach today.

At my core, I see education as a way to shape responsible global citizens. I want students to think about the broader impact of their actions, to value ethical responsibility, and to leave my classroom with the drive to make a difference in the world.
